What's a Silly Lil Guy?
A Silly Lil Guy is a character that makes us smile, think of Rilakkuma, Kirby, Gir, or even Sans Undertale. They don't have a specific gender. A Silly Lil Guy could have their face put on a tshirt, tote bag or be made into a keychain and someone would walk by and look at it and be like, "wow look at that silly lil guy". If you feel in your heart something is a Silly Lil Guy, it probably is.
What's this Club for?
To unite creatives, artists, and makers in Winnipeg and the surrounding area that love lil guys and character goods. Outside of conventions it's hard to find local artists that create cute items and original character goods. In creating this club I hope to unite us in our love and help promote our Original Characters, and lil guys through Social Media, in person events, and markets. We have always aimed to make the world a cuter place, and we would love if you could join us.
What are the goals for this Club?
Our goals start small, and our dreams are big. We start on social media, we reach out and unite artists, makers and creatives with similar goals in the Winnipeg area. We host markets to sell our goods, and get to meet each other in person. Eventually, maybe hold craft nights, art hangout nights, packaging help nights, and other things. Our dream is to eventually lease a commercial space to hold a permanent shop showcasing all sorts of Lil Guys and Character Goods from Local and Canadian artists as well as host a MakerSpace. A space where artists and creatives can access things like cutting machines, inkjet printers, sewing/embroidery machines, knitting machines, 3D printers, as well as Computers with required and helpful software to help them create items here in Canada in small batches so people can experiment more with their art without the high costs of investing in those machines themselves or manufacturing overseas. In addition, possibly hold other events in such a space teaching the skills we have in art and craft so others can learn new skills. How do I Join?
Click the "Join the Club" link and fill out the Google Form! Consent to email correspondence to be sent our Silly Lil Newsletter with info about our events, as well as events involving our other silly lil members.
I'm not an artist can I still join?
Of course! Click the "Join the Club" link and fill out the Google Form! Consent to email correspondence then just say you aren't an artist/maker and submit. You will still get our Silly Lil Newsletter with all the details where to find our silly lil members and events going on but don't have to worry about applying to them! If you ever change your mind and want to become a maker or artist just fill out the form again and provide your artist/maker information. We'd love to have you.
I'm not from Manitoba, can I still join?
Feel free to join and sign up for our newsletter. If you are an artist that frequents the area (looking at you Western Ontario and Saskatchewan) we will try our best to keep you updated on all the best events in Manitoba that might be worth it to travel for! If you live farther away then that, not super sure how much value you'd get out of a membership, but that decision is up to you. We'd love to eventually have the Silly Lil Guy Club nationwide across Canada, but we gotta start small. If you're interested with helping out with getting the Silly Lil Guy Club started in your City/Province please reach out, we'd love to spread the love for lil guys and original characters across this beautiful country!
Does it cost anything to be a member?
There is no cost to join the Silly Lil Guys Club.
Are there any membership perks?
At this time we are offering a member profile on the website with addition to our shop directory if you sell online, as well as our Silly Lil Newsletter with information sent directly to your inbox for any events/markets and first dibs at getting your application in! As well as information about other events in the city that members may be a part of, or are running themselves, will possible information regarding how to apply to other cool oportunities for markets and conventions around the city.
How do I get a member profile?
If you are interested in a member profile hosted on SillyLilGuys.Club please check off yes in the form and upload what you would like showcased. The goal is that you can use these member profiles as a landing page for all your socials and links and/or a place to share your OCs. We will be hosting the pages and writing the code for them ourselves, so be patient with us as we set it up. Once it is live we will contact you to let you know! If there are any changes that you want changed contact us with them and we aim to edit your page within 48 hours to reflect any new/updated links or information. If you wish to have your page removed at any time just send us an email and we will take it down.
